When your internal damper breaks, we install top closing dampers that are warrantied for life by the manufacturer. Traditional dampers are located in the “throat” of a fireplace, and hard built into it. They are made of cast-iron and are housed in a low-tech frame work. (Click on picture to enlarge)
These cast-iron dampers do not seal well as they have a leaky, rough, metal-to-metal connection that allows heat from your home to escape up your chimney flue. Just imagine how much energy and heat your old, rusted out damper is leaking during the winter! This is costing you money.
Top Closing Chimney Dampers have a rubber gasket, which, when closed, seals tight every time you close it – eliminating any draft. This keeps your money in your pocket and not going up your chimney. The damper also keeps rain and animals out at the chimney’s exterior entry point when closed as well. The top closing damper is mounted at the top of your chimney, has a steel cable running through the flue, and a bulb and latch release latch system mounted at the opening of you fireplace. Simply pull the bulb down to open, or release to close. Click on the thumbnails below to see the larger images.
You can easily operates it from inside your firebox. Below is an instructional video on how to use a top closing damper.
We have to come out and measure the top opening of your chimney to determine which size damper will fit, and if you have a flue tile at the top of your chimney (top closing dampers must be mounted onto flue tiles for proper installation) before we can give you a price (which will include installation) to install a top closing damper on your chimney. If your chimney does not have a flue tile at the top of it, we will have to also bid you for installation of a flue tile and crown as well.
PLEASE NOTE, DAMPERS ARE NOT RETURNABLE. IF YOU ORDER A DAMPER TO BE INSTALLED BY US,
YOU MUST COMMIT TO IT AS IT HAS TO BE PREPAID FOR AND SHIPPED FROM THE EAST COAST.
WE ONLY INSTALL DAMPERS. WE DO NOT SELL DAMPERS RETAIL.
THE TOP CLOSING DAMPERS ARE COVERED BY A MANUFACTURER’S LIMITED LIFETIME WARRANTY. IT COVERS THE DAMPER SO LONG AS THE ORIGINAL PURCHASER RESIDES OR OWNS THE HOME IT IS INSTALLED ON ONLY. IT IS NOT TRANSFERABLE BETWEEN NEW HOMEOWNERS OR LOCATIONS.
